They have an otherworldly, will-o'-the-wisp quality to their emotional nature and it is impor­tant to recognize this if you are to have the kind of satisfying, delicate emotional relationship that they can offer. advisor. This is because Virgo embodies the principles of discretion, analysis, probity and critical circumspection. Virgo is not easily bamboozled by flowery words or grand gestures. The Emotional Pedant

The planet Mercury rules Virgo and its well-known emblem is the virgin. Both symbolize Virgo Moon qualities. This is a different manifestation of the Gemini Mercury - less frivolous, more grounded and tending to the analytical and the pedantic, even in emotional matters. Virgo Moons do share certain qualities with Gemini - wit, humor, intellect, quick minds - but there is a gulf of difference, especially when it comes to more serious matters. And what could be more serious than matters of the heart?

Virgo is the sixth house of the zodiac, representing the ideal of service, of selflessness, giving, healing and care. Its role as counselor derives from the Virgo willingness to stay on the fringes of the action and to not seek the center of attention. Virgo Moons are often content putting others' needs and interests first, and thus it is not uncommon to find them working in consulting, the health service or government. Virgo Moons have a nurturing quality that is mixed with an ele­ment of discipline. Unlike the Cancer Moon, whose nurturing is fluid, the Virgo Moon seeks to cultivate growth in a more 'struc­tured' way and thus there is more of an.element of discipline to the Virgo Moon nurturing. The emphasis is on conscious care and thus you will find that the Virgo Moon is very aware of the little details that would pass lesser mortals by. This often earns them the reputation for being too concerned about detail, a trait we will discuss (in more detail} later on.

The principle of purity plays a large role in the character of Virgo Moons. At the root of this trait is the striving for perfection, the attainment of the ideal - even to the point of the transcen­dent, a state unsullied by the mundane 'dirtiness' of this world. The Virgo Moon will often hanker for a state of purity, regardless of how inaccessible it may be. In fact, the further away, the more difficult to achieve, the purer it seems and the more desirable it is for them.

In practical terms, it is not very easy to live up to such a stan­dard and if speaking candidly the Virgo Moon will tell you that it's a burden having such high ideals, but it seems there is nothing they can do about it. The struggle between the mundane and the ideal also earns Virgo Moons a reputation for being neurotic, too concerned about cleanliness, correctness, exactness, punctuality. It is easy for the Virgo Moon to lose sight of the wood for the trees, putting emphasis on details that seem almost irrelevant to a more strategic thinker. The trick for the Virgo Moon is to give this concern a strategic context - the detail has importance only within the bigger picture. The better they are able to learn this, the more relevant and effective their keen eye for what's right. In fact, the occasional view from the top of the mountain will give them some relief from the self-imposed pressure of having to look after every little detail all the time.

If you are in relationship with a Virgo Moon you can help them by giving them some objective input about keeping things in per­spective. It is easy for them to become over analytical and too wrapped up in their striving for perfection and struggle for order. Remind them that in an imperfect world, perfection is at best a state of mind rather than an embodied ideal. This can be very helpful to them when their own sense of human frailty makes them feel inadequate or incomplete. The Virgo Moon's striving for order derives from their sense of natural equilibrium and they are uncomfortable, even hindered, when an accustomed order is lacking. Nevertheless, Libra Moons often f ind themselves in the role of judge and they can be very good at it, once they embrace the cold facts. Their ability to see two sides of the picture and desire to find a balance can make them benevolent and understanding. Libra Moons have a sense of natural justice, an inner knowing that 'what comes around goes around'.
